Like most girls raised in the South, I have had a few pieces of furniture handed down to me that have special stories.
My mom bought this upright piano in the late 1970s. She was fairly newly divorced from my dad and had bought an old rambling country farmhouse to renovate. This was one of her new purchases toward furnishing our h0me which was rare in and of itself as she loves antiques and had many antiques in our home. This Wurlitzer piano was brand spankin’ new and it was mine! I took weekly piano lessons from our church pianist. I still remember eating butter cookies and drinking lemonade at my teacher’s house and logging in many minutes of practice on my piano.
Zoey the dog and my childhood upright Wurlitzer piano. Everything on it has a story! The square mirror, candle holders, and bookends were all wedding presents and the antique mother’s encyclopedias are from my mom. The china covered dish is from a former neighbor who moved to New Orleans.
Guardsman Furniture Care sent me their revitalizing wood polish to try on my wood furniture at home. I love the lemon scent and I love that they have been in the business since 1915 because they are a trusted name. The wood polish spray is designed to enhance and preserve wood’s natural beauty so I feel good about using it on some of the even older pieces in our home, which includes an English drop-leaf table in our entry and a pipe smoking table that was my grandfather’s that features a beautiful carved hunting dog on the front.
Do you have a special furniture story to share? Maybe your family eats dinner every night at your grandmother’s dining room table or perhaps you have a favorite chair that you discovered at the local flea market that has moved with you over the years.
Guardsman has launched a “Stop Cleaning. Start Caring” campaign with design star Tracy Hutson. Share your favorite furniture story on Guardsman.com and Hutson will select one lucky winner to receive a personal design session in their home. I don’t know about you, but I would LOVE to win something like this! I feel like my “design” skills are sorely lacking and are eclectic, but not in a good way. The prize includes a $1,500 room re-accessorizing and shopping experience, plus a suite of Guardsman products! Enter here. Guardsman is also donating $25,000 to Habitat for Humanity to kick off this campaign.
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf Guardsman Furniture Care and received a Guardsman product and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
