I’ve always veered away from wearing stripes. I’m barely 5 ft. 2 and it was drilled into my brain at an early age (maybe in a Glamour magazine years ago) that petite women should NOT wear stripes.
Stripes are big this year, though, so I recently stepped outside my fashion comfort zone and bought a cute striped cardigan at TJ Maxx I love. It’s a sheer, fitted material and looks great layered over several items in my closet.
Here are my picks from Target featuring stripes. The scoop-neck dress and striped burnout tank could be layered with a jacket on cool nights such as this awesome military style jacket from Target for $24.99. It also comes in black, which would probably be my pick, but I am trying to stay away from so much black. I also love the striped tunic from Converse of all brands! I associate Converse with sneakers.
I love the crisp, clean look of black and white and navy and white.
My top two picks are from White House Black Market (striped blouson top and mitered-stripe tank dress) and also this sequin striped top (not pictured). I love the tailored striped jacket from Banana Republic, which is actually navy and white, and the embellished tank from GAP, which is now on sale for just $20! It would look great under a white or black linen jacket.
Have you shown your stripes lately?
