At 11 years old, our Akita mix Jack may be a “senior” dog, but he doesn’t let age or an old injury slow him down.
I mentioned in an earlier post that this spring I’ve teamed up with Pedigree to try the new Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition for Dogs. We’ve been transitioning Jack from his old food to his new Pedigree Large Breed formula with glucosamine, which is great for helping keep his aging joints healthy. He loves more than anything to go for a walk. After watching the very painful aging process the last few months of our beloved Corgi/German Shepherd mix Bailey’s life, I know how tough it is for senior plus dogs when they are no longer able to do some of the things they used to love as a puppy.
So how’s Jack adjusting to his new food? He loves it, number one, and he has been eager to try his new food. I think it’s going to take a while longer to ascertain how the glucosamine is helping him, but I know it’s definitely a good supplement to his daily diet. He may not be able to express himself like my human children, but his tail wagging is a sign that he is feeling good.
You can follow Pedigree on Twitter and check out the Pedigree Adoption Drive Facebook page. I’m a big proponent of adopting your family pet! So many dogs need good homes, please consider adopting your next best friend from your local shelter or animal rescue group. You’ll be paid back in daily tail wags and loving licks.
