Disney Secretariat Blu-Ray DVD Giveaway

This giveaway is closed. The winner is Jennifer M. who commented, “I haven’t seen it yet, but I want to especially because he won in the year I was born.” Congratulations Jennifer and thanks to everyone who entered!

The inspirational story about one of the most remarkable feats in sports history, Secretariat is being released to 2-Disc Blu-Ray Combo Pack on January 25 by Walt Disney Studios. I didn’t get the chance to see this movie in theatres so I was excited to add it to our family DVD library.

Secretariat, which Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times called one of the year’s best films, tells the true story of the 1973 Triple Crown winner and its owner Penny Chenery, played by Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Diane Lane, whom I had the honor of seeing win an award last October at the Variety Magazine Power of Women luncheon in Beverly Hills. One aspect of the movie which I had not expected was the inspiring back story of Chenery (Diane Lane), owner of Secretariat, who was a pioneer of her time when most women were expected to be complacent with just being housewives and mothers. She was determined to stick with her dream in the male-dominated sport of horse racing.

This combo back features never-before-shared in-depth interviews with the real life Penny Chenery, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes, and more on the story of one of the greatest stories in sports history. From the Producers of Miracle, Invincible and The Rookie, Secretariat features critically acclaimed performances by an all-star cast that includes Diane Lane , John Malkovich, Dylan Walsh, James Cromwell, Kevin Connolly, Nelsan Ellis, Margo Martindale, Fred Thompson  and AJ Michalka.

One lucky Savvy Housewife reader will win a copy of the soon to be released (January 25) Secretariat DVD/Blu-Ray combo!
