My 8-year-old daughter loves chapter books and relates so well to female characters such as Nancy Drew that I wasn’t surprised when she came home from school recently totally digging a book from the Allie Finkle series from Scholastic. Allie Finkle is 9-years-old and just trying to make sense of the 4th grade. The Allie Finkle series is written by Meg Cabot, author of The Princess Diaries.
Here’s what reviewers have to say about the first book in the series, Moving Day (which my 8-year-old checked out at her school library):
“Meg brings her signature ear for dialogue, and she gets the fourth grade right.” — Chicago Tribune, review for Allie Finkle’s Rules for Girls: Moving Day
“Meet the most likable young heroine since Pippi Longstocking.” — Copley News Service
I love to encourage my daughters to read and I’m a big fan of Scholastic so I’m thrilled to tell ya’ll about this fun Scholastic promotion highlighting the Allie Finkle series, which are perfect chapter books for girls ages 8-12.
One grand prize winner will receive:
A $50 PB Teen gift card to decorate their space their way, plus a copy of Allie Finkle Book 1: Moving Day! I love PB Teen. There are so many cute things to choose from but if I won the gift card I might put it toward this funky and useful daily dot dry-erase wall calendar for my office or this fun canvas beauty bin.
Two additional winners will win:
A copy of Allie Finkle Book 1: Moving Day and an Allie Finkle dry erase board and marker!
Here’s a synopsis of Book 1: Moving Day:
When Allie Finkle’s parents announce that the family is moving from their suburban split-level into an ancient Victorian house in town, Allie’s sure her life is over. With a new room she’s half-scared to go into, the burden of being the “new girl,” and her old friends all a half-hour car ride away, how will Allie ever learn to fit in? With Meg Cabot’s signature wit and amazing ability to channel girls, Allie is a winning character with real problems, lots of spunk, and is bound to be everyone’s favorite fourth grader.
